Evidence suggests that substantial Early Childhood Development (ECD) interventions and caregiver engagement, particularly in the early years of life can help to improve children’s cognitive and physical development and prepare them to succeed in school and in life. Together with ideas42, we are researching what ECD related challenges in the Western Cape are particularly well-suited to be addressed through behavioural interventions.
violence prevention initiative @schools
Schools in the Western Cape experience exceptionally high levels of violence. Partnering with J-PAL and WCED, we just finished the test phase of a violence prevention initiative (VPI) in four schools. The programme, which targets students in grade 8 and 9 through weekly VPI sessions builds off the growing body of evidence on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as an approach to reduce crime and violence.
