WALK4HEALTH
To combat rising rates of obesity, the Western Cape Government launched the “Walk4Health” initiative targeted at their office workers, whose jobs offer little opportunity for physical activity. A friendly competition was introduced monitoring number of steps taken per day, with a public leaderboard tracking the progress of the 13 departments of the WCG offices, as well as introducing Wellness Ambassadors and feedback. RE-FRAMING HIV Risks factors
According to the UN, in 2018 almost 8 million people were living with HIV in South Africa. Teenage schoolgirls are three times more likely to be HIV positive than boys their age. This partly owes to age-disparate sexual relationships with older men; findings revealed that teenage girls perceive older men to be safer sexual partners. To correct this perception, a simple “HIV risk game” was developed to provide young girls with information about HIV risk.
